Anthony Montes began THE ARTIST THEATRE GROUP in 1987. Originally from New York, he began studying acting at H.B. Studios. He moved to Los Angeles in 1983 and studied Sanford Meisner's acting technique and the Strasberg Method. Among his teachers were Sandy Meisner, Charlie Laughton, Bill Alderson, Susan Peretz, Barbara Bain, Bob Carnegie and Shelley Winters. THE ARTIST THEATRE GROUP was started as a gym for actors, writers and directors to work and develop their crafts. Fueled by his lack of opportunities he began producing plays with his students. Over the years THE ARTIST THEATRE GROUP has produced 70 plays. A good portion of the plays have been original works that were developed in the classes. Many have received critic's choice. Anthony has received the Drama-Logue award for acting. He also received the WorldFest Flagstaff award for his short film SEEING PACINO His hope is to continue teaching and putting up theatre with an ensemble of actors, living truthfully under the imaginary circumstances. His desire is to continue to inspire actors to take control of their destinies. Anthony is the proud father of his son, Matthew Lawrence Bohn-Montes who has taught him much about life, love and being in the moment. |
